Work, and more work

My feet are killing me. It has been one hectic weekend. Our town had a community yard sale that inspired me to get into our attic as well as my parents attic and completely gut them. As if that wasn't enough work, setting up for the yard sale was exhausting. We didn't make much, but we cleaned out alot of old stuff that was lying around. I may try to sell a few things on E-bay if I'm feeling ambitious.

Summer has begun and with that our restaurant is getting increasingly busy. That means more days that I'm needed to fill in. Last year I only worked about 2-3 nights a week cause I was Luna's only source of food at the time. But now I don't have that excuse and Gerald is home so I am working more. I feel that I am not where I'm supposed to be. I need to be home with my baby girl who is growing up SO fast. It's not worth it to me to be gone 6 hours a night and miss putting my baby to bed. The laundry is piled up, the house seems to be in disarray. It's not that Gerald doesn't help- he does, but I like things a certain way and it doesn't get done when I'm not home! The Grille is getting really busy and the money is good so it really helps. I hate that I am so exhausted when I get home, I don't feel I can give my 100% to my family or house. I just want to crash. On the positive side though, Gerald is getting alot of time with Luna. He is such a wonderful father and she just loves him! I'm glad they are getting that time together.

Gerald passed his national test to get his EMT license! Now all we have to do is wait until it comes in, which is about a month. He's already applied to Allied EMS and he is also planning on taking CNA classes this July to get that certification too. Then it will be the choice whether to go to school for Nursing or Paramedic in the fall. He'll be working with both, so we'll see. I'm just really looking forward to the possibilities. I sure am going to miss him while he works his 12 hour shifts, but that means I get to be a stay at home mom again! Also he'll work 4 and be off for 3, so that will be nice.

Apple blossoms and a hummingbird

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? (Mth 6:26)

Birds of a Feather

This weekend was Gerald's 27th birthday. To celebrate, we woke up at 3am to leave for Mio (2 1/2 hours south) for a Kirtland Warbler tour. The Kirtland Warbler is an endangered bird that is very particular about where it nests. It will only nest in 5-8 foot jackpines that grew due to forest fires. Because of such specificality, there are 10s of thousands of acres in central Michigan that are preserved just for this bird which ONLY nests in Michigan. We made it down at 7am and with two other couples (one which traveled from Florida just to see this bird) and a guide, we quietly and patiently went searching. It was quite an exciting moment hearing them call and actually getting a picture! Luna made a few noises but that seemed to entice the bird to show himself, so she was quite the helper! Gerald was pretty excited to chalk that one on his "life list" of birds.

The second photo, I took through a scope lens.

Summer is finally coming upon us! Well, in the fact that I began working this last week. It will be my third season at the Grille. Best food in town! The weather hasn't warmed up much, just about mid-50s, maybe 60s on a good day. It's not helping get those tourists up here. But its nice to have a little extra cash in my pocket. I'm only working about 3 nights a week, like last year.Gerald is currently staying at home with Luna until his national registry for EMS comes through. It can take about a month. I look forward to getting back into a routine (as in Gerald working and me staying at home with my girl!!). I would rather be poor than miss my baby grow up, even if its just for a day! :)

Now for some rest and relaxation!
